The idea
You know how it is. You start a painting and then life gets in the way. An appointment. The housework. Work. Before you know it, your painting has been waiting for another week.
This weekend, you won't have that problem.
You work on one painting of your own for two days. You get guidance when you need it and all the time you need to look, try and look again.
I have been painting for more than thirty years.
I use that experience to look at your work with you, answer your questions and help you move forward when you get stuck.
With a maximum of five participants, there is plenty of room for that.
Who is it for
✓ You want to do something different with a friend.
Not another weekend away where you mainly go from terrace to restaurant. Instead, two days of painting, good food, a glass of wine, good conversation and time to become completely absorbed in something. And at the end, you go home with a painting you made yourself.
✓ You have been painting for a while and want to really give yourself the time to work on it.
You know the basics. Perhaps you take lessons or paint at home. But sometimes a painting just gets stuck somewhere. This weekend gives you the time to keep going. To ask questions, try things out and discover why something works or does not work.
✓ You want to get completely away from your daily routine for a while.
No housework, work or appointments. Two days in which you have time to paint, to look, and for a while not be occupied with anything else. You don't have to arrange anything. You don't have to go anywhere. Just two days of time for yourself.
The painting
Two days. One painting.
On Saturday, we start with the basics. You make the first sketch, establish the shapes and look at proportions, light and dark. After lunch, you continue. You work until dinner. Your painting stays where it is while we sit down at the table.
On Sunday morning, you look at it again. With fresh eyes, you sometimes suddenly see what still needs to be done. You adjust, refine and continue working. After lunch, there are a few more hours to finish your painting. At the end of the afternoon, we look together at how far you have come.
You go home with your own painting. And with a better eye for what you can do yourself next time.

Between painting, you join us at the table.
On Saturday, soup and bread are ready for lunch.
In the evening, we have an Indonesian dinner. In the studio, surrounded by the paintings we have worked on that day.
A good glass of wine for those who feel like it. A moment away from the painting. Talking about the day. Laughing. Eating.
On Sunday, lunch is ready with delicious sandwiches. Coffee, tea and something tasty are available throughout the weekend.
You don't have to bring anything for lunch or dinner. You only have to take a seat at the table.
What do you take home?
Your painting. And something you can use at home.
You have had two days to really look at your own work.
You have seen where you get stuck. You have made different choices. Tried things out. And experienced what happens when you give yourself the time to look a little further.
The next time you stand in front of a blank panel at home, you will have a better idea of where to begin. And when you get stuck, you will have a better idea of what to look at.
What is included?
Everything is ready.
Your painting panel, oil paints, brushes, easel and all the other materials you need.
Lunch on Saturday and Sunday. The Indonesian dinner on Saturday evening. Coffee, tea and something tasty.
You only have to bring yourself.
The group
A maximum of five participants.
Small enough to have time for your painting.
To look along when you get stuck. Answer a question. Look together at what is still needed.
And large enough to enjoy the weekend together.
